Evaluation of Chromium and Selenium in Serum of Female Patients with Breast Tumor
ثبت نشده
چکیده
This is an explorative study, rarely conducted in Iraq relied on sample of women with breast tumors to measure the possible contribution of chromium(Cr) and selenium(Se)values in the serum and hair to breast tumor genesis. Serum and hair samples were taken from 59 females with age from 25 to 60 years. Thirty four females with breast tumor were grouped according to the type of tumor into two groups (malignant: 20 and benign: 14) and twenty five were apparently healthy. The result demonstrated that scalp hair of patients with malignant breast cancer were significant increase of hair content of Cr with significant decrease of hair Se, compared to benign and healthy controls. The levels of serum Se were significantly decreasedin both malignant and benign groups, compared to controls. A Significant decrease in hair contents of Se was seen in malignant tumor groups, compared to controls. Non-significant increase in the level of serum Cr in the malignant and benigngroups, compared to controls.

Pre and post chemotherapy evaluation of breast cancer patients: Biochemical approach of serum selenium and antioxidant enzymes
Backgrounds: Chemotherapy for treatment of breast cancer uses some drugs to target and destroy the cancer cells. However, most of antineoplastic treatments are non-specific and the innate cells will be damaged. In this study, the effect of Adriamycin/Cytoxan (AC) chemotherapy on status of antioxidant enzymes and Se levels in breast cancer patients was evaluated. Methods: A prospective study, i...
متن کاملEffect of Six Weeks of Interval Exercise Training along with Selenium Nanoparticle Ingestion on Bcl-2 and LC3 Genes expression in the Tumor Tissue of Breast Tumor–Bearing Mice
Introduction: Some factors such as exercise training and pharmacological interventions can slow tumor growth. To determine the underlying mechanisms, we investigated the effect of six weeks of interval exercise training along with ingestion on Bcl-2 and LC3 genes expression in the tumor tissue of breast tumor–bearing mice. Methods: Twelve female BALB/c mice were injected with cancer cell line a...
متن کاملAssociation of Tissue Selenium Level and p53 Expression in Breast Cancer
Background and Objective: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide, which alone accounts for 30% of all new cancer cases in women. The development of cancer is a multistep process. The complex series of cellular and molecular changes participating in cancer development are mediated by a diversity of stimuli such as Oxidative stress that is known to cause DNA damag...
متن کاملEvaluation of the circulating levels of IL-12 and IL-33 in patients with breast cancer: influences of the tumor stages and cytokine gene polymorphisms
Objective(s):IL-12 as an anti-tumor cytokine and IL-33 a novel identified cytokine with both pro- or anti-tumor activities, play important roles in response against tumor cells. Our aim was to evaluate the IL-12 and IL-33 levels and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in their genes in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods:Blood samples were collected from 100 patients with breas...
متن کاملسطح سلنیوم سرم زنان مبتلا به سرطان پستان در بیماران مراجعه کننده به انستیتو کانسر در سال 1383 و مقایسه آن با افراد سالم
Introduction: Breast Cancer is one of the most important fatal cancers in women. The mean age of breast cancer in Iran is 48.8 years which is very lower than other countries. Selenium can play an important role in reduction of cancer in several ways, for example selenium increases immunity response and protects cells from oxidation of free radicals and also decreases carcinogenic metabolites. ...
